Google and other search engines use computer programs called algorithms to figure out which pages on the web will give search engine users the best answer to their search queries.
When Does The Algorithm Update?
Changes to Google’s algorithms are always in progress, but sometimes there are official major updates when there are significant changes to the way the search and spam fighting algorithms work. Some of Google’s algorithm updates are named after black and white animals like Panda or Penguin.
“Chasing the algorithm”, or trying to adjust your strategy to keep up with Google’s hundreds of algorithm updates is not a good use of your time. Instead, focus on creating the best website, with the best content – better than all of the others who are competing to rank at the top for the same topics. Why pretend to be the best when you can actually be the best?
